BET, Planned Parenthood join up against breast cancer
Planned Parenthood is getting together with BET Thursday for a night of breast health education and entertainment in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
BET is bringing legendary rapper Doug E. Fresh and DJ D-Nice together with Planned Parenthood, a major provider of breast exams and education, at the Museum of Science and Industry for the Breast Party Ever. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Chicago’s event kicks off a nationwide tour for Breast Party Ever, which will visit other cities over the course of October. Young breast cancer survivor Tamika Richmond will speak at Thursday’s event, and community organizations like the Chicago Female Condom Campaign, the Chicago Metropolitan Breast Cancer Task Force, Enroll America and the Howard Brown Health Center will be on hand to discuss health care and insurance. Doug E. Fresh and DJ D-Nice will perform.
Illinois Planned Parenthood President Carole Brite will be in attendance, as will Sonya Lockett, vice president of public affairs for BET.
