Think gardening on this cold winter day
Wednesday and Thursday are supposed to be record-breaking cold days for Chicago, according to the meteorologists.
So you know what some people are doing to get their minds off the cold temps? Thinking ahead. They’re signing up for plots with the Peterson Garden Project.
You don’t have to be a seasoned gardeners to sign up. In fact, the crew at Peterson Garden Project likes to have newcomers, or as they call ’em, “grewbies,” because a big part of their mission is to have more Chicagoans embrace gardening.
It’s $75 for a 4×8 plot in one of the organic pop-up locations that still have spaces. That fee also includes lessons in gardening and events as well as some supplies.
The remaining plots will go fast. Go here to register; the deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 27.
And then, start thinking about what you’ll plant and how you’ll prepare it once it’s grown, instead of obsessing over this last (I hope) beatdown from winter.
